Public Art and Regeneration
Free Form puts an emphasis on creating ‘places for people’ by integrating art with design and architecture for high quality projects which enhance the quality of public spaces. We use a wide variety of creative media and materials, including lighting and fibre optics, street furniture, glass artworks, ceramic tiled murals, paving, stone and sculptural work.

On average every year, aside from the in-house artists, Free Form engages 50 artists and 100 fabricators for a wide range of projects. Our work has developed to encompass large scale Public Arts projects within strategic urban regeneration schemes that include concept design, commissioning artists, project management and community involvement.

The children made their own play sculptures using clay and working directly onto scaled plans.

Free Form also ran recycled glass workshops with young children whose work will be fired and made into glass pavers for the toddler area.

Free Form was appointed by Shoreditch Trust to design and manage improvements to Shoreditch Park, formerly a sparse, uninviting and under-used green space in Hackney.

Working with the London borough of Hackney and receiving funding through section106 planning obligations, the programme has established a lively Park User Group and created sculptural entrance markers, new pathways using 100% recycled glass pavers designed by local schoolchildren, bespoke design granite seating and heritage lamp-posts cast from the originals. Community involvement in the conceptual development stage of the project provided a way for park users to play a strategic and creative role in the design process.
