The Green Bottle Unit is a world wide first in its field. It successfully manufactures striking and original 100% recycled glass products for use in landscape, architectural and interior design.

The unit brings together creative innovation and environmental sustainability. Combining its expertise in art, science and technology the Green Bottle Unit transforms waste glass to create functional, visually stunning and durable surfaces such as tiles, bricks and paviours. These are kiln formed hand crafted pieces.

Our products are suitable for many different applications. Popular uses include urban landscape features, interior wall tiles and glass block walls.

The Green Bottle Unit is always interested in experimenting with the possibilities of unusual glass and is committed to exploring new and innovative applications. We also undertake special commissions by working closely with architects and interior designers to custom make products for specific design briefs. The Green Bottle Unit is currently working with Foster & Partners developing a unique recycled glass wall for a project in Japan.

Tiles and paviours produced by the Green Bottle Unit are incorporated into many of Free Form’s projects. In conjunction with British Waterways and the Peabody Trust, for example, Free Form is developing an overland route marked with 100% recycled glass paviours along the Regent’s Canal which continues along Angel and Upper Street Islington. On Broad Street Reading, 100% recycled glass paviours feature uplighters powered by fibre optics.

Our Green Bottle Unit Community Programme offers recycling seminars to schools and community groups and an opportunity to visit Hothouse, the site of the Green Bottle production unit. We also take part in community events, such as Discover Hackney, Open House and hold regular open sale days.
